Failed POST

My device is failing Power-On Self Test (POST) and displays red-red-white

There could be several reasons for this condition:

  • Dead batteries - this is the most common
  • Tray was left inside the device during POST
  • Oil spill onto the optics
  • Hardware failure

Oil spill

tCheck, specifically the tray, is designed to minimize the chance of spillage.  Having said that, accidents happen.  You can try to clean the optics by first removing the batteries, then using a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol to gently clean the optics.  If that doesn't work, the tCheck device will need to be returned to the factory for repair / re-calibration.  Due to precise alignment of all optical elements, disassembly of the device will result erroneous measurements (and void the warranty).

Hardware failure

Each individual tCheck device is extensively tested during the manufacturing and calibration process.  On occasion, the devices will pass all of these tests but still fail in the field.  tCheck's are covered by a 1-year warranty to mitigate these circumstances.  Please contact support at support@tcheck.me for further instructions on getting a warranty replacement.
