Coconut oil / MCT coconut oil

Can I test coconut oil or MCT coconut oil in tCheck?

Yes.  Both MCT coconut oil and regular coconut oil work in tCheck.   Please be sure to use 100% coconut oil or MCT coconut oil as tCheck is calibrated to these oils.

What is MCT?

MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides. MCT molecules are smaller than those in most of the fats you eat (long-chain triglycerides [LCT]). This makes it easier to digest and faster for your body to use as energy.

MCT is produced by fractionating coconut oil - heating the coconut oil and separating out the long chain triglycerides (oils) from the medium chain triglycerides.

In addition to MCT coconut oil, MCT palm oil is also common.  The process for fractionation is similar but MCT palm oil is produced from the palm tree fruit instead of coconuts.

tCheck has not been calibrated against MCT palm oils.
